Every once in a while, a dog comes into your life that is so special that when he is gone, the ache in your heart - the literal emptiness - is so vast you wonder if you'll recover. Rudy was just that dog. Loving and so well loved.

Today, our family is sad. Yet with that sadness are so many memories - the warm, black, cuddly puppy we brought home; playing fetch and swim in the pond every summer; long walks around town. The sight of his tail wagging and thumping in concert with the beat of his great big heart.
